The opportunity We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer Front End to join our Corporate IT team based in our Canton MA or Boston MA office. This position can also be located remotely within the United States. The Lead Software Engineer is a senior level technology individual contributor that will help create define and execute web and mobile front-end software solutions for Intact. The Lead Engineer role is a key technical and leadership role responsible for guiding the design and implementation of web and mobile client applications using technologies such as React Native React Angular and Typescript. This role demands a hands-on approach involvement in solution architecture and architectural decisions agile scrum team leadership and the ability to mentor less experienced engineers. He/she will work closely with the technology and business architects to help refine the business need design and apply solutions to web client applications and the BFF layer to support them and create/update documentation of the technologies under his/her leadership. The Lead Engineer will be creative in the research and use of mobile technologies such as CarPlay/Android Auto Voice GPS Camera etc. to introduce mobile capabilities to our platform. In addition the Lead Engineer will partner with peer Lead Engineers in back-end data cloud engineering and other teams to ensure alignment architectural harmony prioritization and share ideas. The incumbent is a technologist who is passionate about technology and uses this inquisitive nature to anticipate and test IT industry technologies and future directions and brings the results of that passion to benefit his/her software delivery. The Lead Engineer will work closely with UX architects to ensure consistent design flow architectural consistency and alignment to marketing and branding standards. Where necessary the Lead Engineer will meet with business and customer partners and communicate about technical topics at a level consumable by the audience including demonstration of functionality. While this is an individual contributor hands-on development role the Lead Engineer position requires mentorship oversight of the technical workings and delivery of the team and agile team leadership (leading standups sprint reviews and working closely with architects and product owners on prioritization sprint planning roadmaps etc.). Some of the Lead Software Engineer Front End responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop robust scalable back-end solutions focusing on microservices and core business logic. Collaborate with architects other developers product managers and other stakeholders to align back-end services with client-side applications. Maintain high standards for code quality testing and security practices. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Stay up to date with emerging trends in back-end development and cloud technologies applying them to improve existing systems. Identify opportunities for improvement in current technology and that of individual systems. Avoids the creation of tech debt identifies tech debt quickly and prioritizes the swift remediation of technical debt. Participate in code reviews and other activities to ensure code quality and performance Maintain DevSecOps scripts (build test deploy) and help implement automated testing and deployment The expertise you bring 5+ years of experience in a senior software development role with a focus on front-end technologies within an agile environment. Expertise in React React Native Angular and Typescript. Expertise in leveraging capabilities of mobile devices. Strong understanding of modern front-end architectures and design patterns. Experience in building responsive user-centric web and mobile applications. Proficient in front-end testing frameworks and practices and observability and sentiment technology. Experience building and maintaining front-end supporting integration solutions (BFFs – back-ends for front-ends) leveraging REST and/or GraphQL etc. Familiarity with cloud environments and their impact on front-end performance and scalability. Excellent problem-solving abilities logical thinking and leadership (by influence and example) skills. Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location role experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $122000 – $162000 based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco CA and the New York City metro area the base salary range is $142000 -$166000.
