Our Claims Analytics team is currently seeking a Claims Data Analyst to join our growing team in our Worcester MA office in a hybrid work arrangement or remote work location. This is a full time except position. POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Analyst will use claims data to provide insight into business performance. Responsibilities will include analyzing variances in loss results compared to plan identifying and communicating potential areas for improvement within Claims or other functions and building out reporting analytics to provide quicker and more comprehensive insights. Analysis may span any segment or line of business across the company. WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THE ROLE: Analyze claims data and effectively communicate conclusions in writing and verbally. Draw insights and observations from detailed and multifaceted claims data and reports. Respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate. Participate in the development or enhancement of complex reports and tools for multiple lines of business. Quantify the impacts of internal operational changes and external trends on frequency severity and overall loss results. Develop industry knowledge and internal data expertise to provide solutions to complex business questions. Tuned into external industry trends and best practices. Work in partnership with the team and management to generate innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open-mindedness using existing information to its fullest potential. Able to respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field (math finance actuarial science or analytics preferred). 2-4 years of related analytical and property & casualty industry experience preferred (e.g. actuarial business analytics or finance). Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to perform exploratory data analysis. Intermediate knowledge of Excel and basic knowledge of SQL ability to efficiently work with large and complex data sets. Experience with turning raw data into meaningful information ability to summarize complex business concepts into written and oral communications (including the use of PowerPoint). Familiar with key industry financial/operational metrics. Strong organization project and time management skills ability to multi-task and meet all deadlines with quality product. Job Description The Role We are expanding our Analytics function and are seeking an Lead Insights Analyst to join our dynamic and growing Insights team. The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong analytical mindset a passion for data-driven decision-making and is equally passionate about translating complex data into actionable business insights as they are about supporting the growth of their direct reports. You will manage an insights analyst based in India and liaise with your counterparts in the UK. Additionally you will be dedicated to a specific business area working with its General Manager (and their team members) to provide in-depth analysis and build data products to help them make decisions to improve profit performance. You will also represent the wider Data Team (Engineers BI Analysts Data Scientists) to the General Manager and support them with any data-related query they may have. You will collaborate closely with the other insights analysts in the Insights team who are based in both India and the UK. You will become the data expert for your vertical and will provide recommendations based on data trends and patterns. This is a critical leadership role as our data organization expands to meet growing demand across media performance optimization customer insights and advanced analytics. What You’ll Do Investigate performance trends forecasts and bugs across multiple traffic sources and user journeys reporting back to stakeholders with recommendations Collaborate with product and development teams to understand and gather their requirements translating them into technical data requirements. Contribute to reporting and ad-hoc data requests from the General Manager of your dedicated business area and members of their team. Accelerate the organisation from basic reporting and analysis to predictive/prescriptive analytics by outputting data products that can be used to generate reusable insights Act as the primary data contact for your business area working with the General Manager and members of their team to gather requirements prioritise projects and communicate progress on a regular basis. Communicate and answer questions based on your findings and recommendations to an audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders of multiple seniority levels. Support your direct reports alongside other senior members of the Insights team to answer any technical questions and prioritise work based on value driven to the business Manage time effectively and prioritise tasks based on value driven to the business Strike the balance between maintaining high standards of analytical work and delivering value consistently Qualifications What you’ll bring: 4+ years of experience in data analytics with 1+ years in a leadership management or senior mentoring role. Expert-level SQL skills including advanced functions and a deep understanding of how to query large complex datasets. Experience with Python on either statistical analysis or data science concepts. Familiarity with data from Google Analytics (GA4) and Ad platforms (Google Ads Meta TikTok Taboola Outbrain etc) Ability to translate findings into recommendations to stakeholders at multiple levels of seniority in a clear and concise manner Ability to communicate data to non-technical audiences through the use of reports and visualisations Able to prioritise across different projects to focus on the highest-impact work and communicate those priorities to junior team members and/or stakeholders High level of attention to detail along with the ability to “zoom out” to consider the larger goals Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally across global teams.
