ECCS Charter Schools a new charter school district set to open in Dallas TX seeks to immediately select 3 members to serve on the School Board of Education. ECCS will initiate the first two academies: one in-person traditional academy serving grades PreK-8 and one hybrid academy serving grades 9-12 both academies set to open in the fall of 2027. The third academy will be a year-round academy serving grades 6-8 set to open in the summer of 2028. BOE members are expected to strategically lead the district guide the organization to follow the mission and vision of the charter and ensure the district as a whole meet educational goals. The charter school district (ECCS) is registered with the Texas Secretary of State and will be accredited. ECCS will operate as a non-profit organization and will be PUBLICLY funded but PRIVATELY operated. Letters of interest to serve on the ECCS School Board of Education are due October 31 2025. The Texas Education Agency will propose award to grant charter May 27 2026. The 2026-2027 school year will serve as the mandatory preparation year as mandated by the Texas Education Agency. School Board of Education terms begin in May of 2027. ECCS schools will open in August of 2027. Ø Must be a U.S. citizen Ø Must reside anywhere in the state of Texas for the last twelve months Ø Must be eighteen years of age or older Ø Must be a registered voter in the Texas county where residing Ø No experience needed but serving on a board council and/or committee preferred. Ø Experience and/or knowledge of operations of Texas schools preferred. Ø Minimum of a high diploma or GED Ø Cannot be related to other school board members by blood marriage or domestic partnership Ø Successful passing of a background check (cannot be a convicted felon unless pardoned) Ø Any and all other Texas Education Code Chapter 11 policies and provisions Three applicants will be selected (not elected) to serve on the ECCS School Board of Education. Charter school boards do not have a taxing authority therefore school board of education members are not elected but selected. Each BOE member will serve a term of a minimum of one consecutive year unless mutually agreed upon by the charter’s authorizer and the BOE member to serve on a longer term. There are no constrictions in Texas for board members serving on multiple boards as long as those positions do not create a Conflict of Interest with one another. Unpaid/Volunteer School Board of Education members will be expected to travel annually for board training as mandated by the state of Texas as well as other trainings periodically throughout the year. Such trainings that coincide with the Texas Education Code(s) provide for the reimbursement of travel meals and lodging to each school board member. CEO Lead the BOE preside over monthly BOE meetings set the agenda for the monthly BOE meeting serve as the spokesperson for the BOE including to the public media and organizations appoint committees sign official documents ensure the BOE follows established board procedures facilitate board governance represent the BOE consensus support the Superintendent. Preside over monthly BOE meetings and represent the BOE when the President is unable to do so second in command assist the President support BOE operations assist in managing board policy and communications fulfilling any specific duty assigned by the President. Record and manage minutes of the monthly BOE meetings and agendas maintain official record keeping ensure compliance with school policy and school law facilitate board communication preserve BOE records.
