The Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD/AFSCME Local 206) – the nation’s largest union of fully licensed doctors representing physicians and dentists in California since 1972 – is running a major campaign to organize physicians across the University of California system. UAPD already holds a ratified UC contract covering Student Health physicians. This campaign extends physician-governed representation to attendings across six campuses. Social media is the campaign’s air cover it builds the recognition and trust that makes every 1-on-1 townhall and website visit land. Every post drives to one destination and every post has to be able to withstand a skeptical highly educated audience.

Position Details Status Part-time 20–30 hours/week Base & travel Primarily remote/production-based periodic travel to UC campuses for townhalls press conferences and event content capture Schedule Flexible within the campaign rhythm but must be reliably available around the Mon/Wed/Fri posting cadence and event weeks some early mornings evenings and weekends around events and rapid-response needs Equipment Equipment and event-travel expenses covered Performance Targets Goal 30 posts / month (~7 per week) across LinkedIn Instagram Facebook and X a cross-post counts once Target 20 posts / month (4 per week) – the baseline cadence that must never be missed Stories 5+ story sets / week on Instagram/Facebook countdowns polls Q&A boxes reshares
Own execution of the weekly content calendar against the Goal and Target volume standards above publishing consistently across LinkedIn Instagram Facebook X and YouTube. Produce 5+ story sets per week countdown stickers for events polls that feed the issue-pattern dashboard Q&A boxes and same-day reshares of Doctor Voices content. Draft and design content across the campaign’s content pillars – Doctor Voices Protection & Rights Contract Receipts Political Power Myth vs. Fact and Patients Over Profit – from provided source material and campaign messaging. Run the approval workflow on every post draft route for approval publish – with same-day priority on rapid-response posts answering a management or competitor message. Maintain platform strategy LinkedIn as primary for attendings (credential-forward longer copy) Instagram/Facebook for stories and video X for political and rapid response YouTube for the video series and townhall clips. Apply consent and accuracy standards on every post written consent before any physician’s name face or campus identifier is posted every factual claim traced to a source asset no disparagement of other unions or organizations. Capture and produce event content townhall countdowns live quote cards and next-day recap clips. Log poll results and Q&A-box questions to the campaign tracker and report monthly against posts published link clicks interest-form fills townhall RSVPs and engagement rate by content pillar. Content Pillars Doctor Voices – first-person physician stories and testimonials on why representation matters at this stage of a career. Protection & Rights – plain-language explainers on HEERA organizing rights card confidentiality and protection from retaliation. Contract Receipts – real language and outcomes from UAPD-negotiated contracts one clause or win at a time always with a citation. Political Power – UAPD’s legislative record and where the union stands on scope-of-practice and related bills affecting physicians. Myth vs. Fact – direct factual answers to the most common objections dues strikes and what a contract changes with management. Patients Over Profit – workload and patient-care realities framed around what collective representation actually changes.
Demonstrated ability to sustain a high-volume deadline-driven posting cadence for an organization campaign or brand – not just occasional content but a reliable weekly rhythm. Strong writing ability and comfort adapting message and tone across LinkedIn Instagram Facebook X and YouTube. Working knowledge of platform publishing scheduling tools and basic analytics comfort with lightweight design or video editing tools. Good judgment with sensitive consent-based and legally reviewed content and the discipline to work inside an approval process rather than around it. Ability to turn source material – contract language legislative records member stories – into accurate citable campaign-ready copy.
The campaign consistently hits or exceeds the 30-post monthly goal without ever dropping below the 20-post/4-per-week target and story output holds at 5+ sets per week. Doctor Voices content leads engagement across the account. Rapid-response posts go out within 48 hours. Every post can be traced back to a source and the monthly numbers – clicks RSVPs form fills – show social media doing its job of feeding the field. Hiring Process Application screen – resume portfolio and draft posts (decision within 24 hours) → final panel → references and offer. Strong candidates move from application to offer in 5–7 business days applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and exceptional candidates may receive offers before the posting closes.
